Constructing North-South Knowledge Community for Development ResearchCommunities

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada has approved funding for this proposal, whcih will be initiated shortly. The main objective is to utilise the partnerships and resources being generated by the CCD-CKD - Cooperation, Knowledge and Development project to formalize a North-South Knowledge Community (NSKC). As part of this project, three thematic learning communities (LC) on gender, intercultural issues and the social economy will be created as pilot components of the NSKC.

 

CCD-CKD - Cooperation, Knowledge and Development

This initiative, supported by the International Development Research Centre, will extend the activities of its Second Phase until June 2011. The second phase (2009-2010) has the purpose to consolidate the collaboration among an increasing number of Canadian and Latin American university centres and regional networks with the purpose to promote knowledge sharing and professional training and updating. The project.

 

CEBEM International

CEBEM-International is a Canadian and Latin American initiative of CEBEM in operation since 2009. The vision is to strengthen the collaboration between North and South for development purposes with a base on the innovations that have emerged in information and communication technologies; regional knowledge networks that link academics and practitioners; and diverse modalities of online education for professional developmnet. The purpose of CEBEM-International (CI) is to contribute to mutual knowledge about development problems, particularly between Latin America, the Caribbean countries, Canada, the USA and European Union.
